I delve into neighborhood issues and government policies as the city reporter for The Canton Repository. I previously covered crime and breaking news, Canton City Schools and Jackson Township — the second-largest township in Stark County, where more than 375,000 people live.
The Ohio Associated Press Media Editors selected my three-day, front-page series on the Canton Police Department's new community policing tactics as first place for best enterprise reporting in 2016. I spent half a year researching and interviewed more than 25 people in Canton and across the nation for the series, which resulted from of a John Jay College and Solutions Journalism Network fellowship focused on violent crime reduction.
Throughout my time at The Rep, I've assisted with updating the paper's social media accounts, started a blog for reporters, helped coordinate a 24-hour newsroom project, and rappelled down a 13-story building for a first-person article and video. I've also reported for The Lima News in Ohio and the Casper Star-Tribune in Wyoming.
